The Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas (IFNTUOG) is the higher education institution in Ukraine granted the IV (highest) accreditation level, training specialists for oil and gas and energy industries of Ukraine and other countries.
The Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas is the only higher education establishment of oil and gas profile in our country was founded in 1960.
Since its creation IFNTUOG has trained over 28000 professionals. Now students major in 28 specialities at 14 departments.
682 members of university teaching staff (56 Doctors of Sciences and 239 Candidates of Science) pass their profound knowledge and immense practical experience to the students. High-quality long-term teaching is ensured by technical and support staff. Over 600 people are employed in university research and development institutes.
The University also trains students for other countries, such as, Bulgaria, Byelorus, Vietnam, India, Iran, Jordan, Moldova, Mongolia, Russia, Pakistan and Turkmenistan.
Many foreign delegations visit the university to establish scientific and academic cooperation. A wide exchange between representatives of educational establishments from other countries assists to assert positive image of IFNTUOG on international scene, realization of selected course on international accreditation, integration in educational and scientific world concord.
IFNTUOG works in close cooperation with higher education establishments in Austria, Germany, Argentina, Canada, India, USA, Bulgaria, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, France, and Russia. This ensures stable cooperation in academic, teaching, and research issues, and often results in joint conferences and workshops. Every year university students have the opportunity to undergo practical training in Romania, Greece, Germany, USA, Canada, Turkey, Egypt, and other countries. This became possible because of the university membership in various student organizations (IAESTE since 1992, IAESEC since 1990).
The powerful potential of the University enables it to train highly qualified specialists through postgraduate and doctoral courses. Enclosed you will find information as to the departments of the university and the courses offered by them.
For foreign students the University provides several stages of training.

Preparatory (language) training – 1 year. After this course the students receive an appropriate certificate that gives permit to continue their study in any educational institution of Ukraine. The tuition fee for the preparatory course comprises 1000$.
After finishing the language course foreign students study together with the Ukrainian ones. The study is conducted in Ukrainian language. In case in one speciality there are no less than 10 students in a group study can be conducted in Russian.
Bachelor's Degree Program – 4 years. Upon graduation students are awarded the Diploma of Bachelor of Sciences translated into Ukrainian and English languages.
Master's Degree Program – plus 1 year after completing the Bachelor's program. Upon graduation students are awarded the Diploma of Master of Sciences translated into Ukrainian and English languages. The tuition fee for these courses is 1500$ a year.
Retraining - from 1month to 1 year. The tuition fee for retraining course is 300$ a month.
University prepares well-trained and qualified specialists of 22 specialties through post-graduate and doctorate study. Four specialized Scientific Councils are directed towards defending of theses for Doctor’s degree on following specialties:
- 05.15.10 – Drilling of Wells;
- 05.15.06 – Development of Oil and Gas Fields;
- 05.05.12 – Machinery of Oil and Gas Industry;
- 05.15.13 – Oil and Gas Pipelines, Petroleum Depots and Storage Facilities Specialization;
- 05.11.13 – Methods and Inspection Tools of Quality and Production Certification;
And defending of theses for Ph.D. degree on the following specialties:
- 04.00.17 – Geology of Oil and Gas;
- 04.00.22 – Geophysics.
Academic year starts on September 1 and consists of two terms:
1st term: September 1 - December 25. Finals: December 26 - January 6.
2nd term: February 3 - June 4. Finals: June 4-25.
Students have vacations between terms as well as free time during regional and state holidays.
All foreign students are provided with dormitory accommodation for 2-3 persons. Lodging costs 300 USD a year.

The university assists its students in acquiring visas and issues all necessary invitation documents.
In order to be accepted to our university the students have to present the following documents:
1)originals and copies of education documents with the list of studied subjects and marks (points) translated into Ukrainian and notarized (a Certificated of secondary Education should be nostrificated (certified) by Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine);
2)AIDS Medical Inspection Certificate;
3)a Medical Certificate that confirms the absence of medical contraindication for residence and studies in Ukraine certified by the official body of health of the residence country, translated into Ukrainian and notarized;
4)a Medical Insurance Card;
5)copy of Birth Certificate translated into Ukrainian and notarized;
6)ten 3x4 photos;
7)copy of passport.

In case the foreign citizen have graduated from other preparatory language course the corresponding certificate must be submitted.
All the enlisted documents are to be submitted to the Department of Foreign Student Training during June 1 – August 20.
In order to be accepted to post-graduate and doctorate courses the students have to present other corresponding documents in accordance with established procedure in addition to the above-mentioned documents.
Documents indicated in items 3,5,7 must be translated in Ukrainian and certified according to the regulations in force in the issuing country and appropriately legalized, unless otherwise regulated by international agreements of Ukraine.
The foreign student is to be officially invited by the university in order to start his or her education and be admitted to the country. For this purpose the university issues an invitation. All the data included into the invitation has to be given by the foreigner to the university beforehand no later than July 20. Applicants also have pay a non-refundable 70 USD application fee and is to be transferred to the university bank account.
Foreign students are taken to the university according to the results of interview and on the basis of a contract. The interview is held on August 22-26.
The invitations are valid only for a certain period and the student has to arrive to the university before the end of its validity term.
